I did not vote for Barack Obama, and I am not sure I agree with where he will take us. However, I can't help but be a little excited to see the race barrier broken in the USA. I am eager to see what happens.
Congratulations Mr. Obama. Make us proud to be Americans again. While I may not have always agreed with you, I have always respected you.
I think that John McCain gave a beautiful concession speech. He has a tremendous amount of respect for Mr. Obama. He is a great American, whether you agree with his politics or not.
This is largely a cultural difference. Most Chinese would not find this the least bit offensive. We can not pretend that this sort of thing does not happen here in the states, the Chinese people seem to be willing to be more self aware in this respect.
We need to encourage China. Look how far they have come in the past 10-20 years.
Anyone and everyone should read the article from wired about the recovery effort of this ship(mentioned in Erik's post). One of the edge-of-your-seat stories I have ever read. I couldn't help thinking "when are they going to make a movie out of this?"
Question: How come we don't get to find out who the winning captions are for these contests? I would like to know who beat me so I can scoff at the judges! :) This question is not necessarily directed at this contest, but all of them.
I am an architect so everyone and their dog has sent this to me. The detail bubble (the circle with the numbers in it) was photo shopped on to the step, the first version of this I saw didn't have that lovely feature.
What a wonderful way to reduce waste. When can we implement that here in the states? Maybe if people where charged by the pound, they would think about what they threw away. If they thought about what they threw away, then maybe they would think about what they bought! Pretty soon global warming would start to reverse. Well, at least maybe people would throw away less crap.
