In the UK, you have the option to have a MW at home, or an OB in the hospital - both are covered by the NHS, and it is not at all uncommon for low-risk women to choose a homebirth, and a midwife is likely on call at all times for calls just like these.
I think the obvious choice would be to take baby to bed with you... It's a very cute video, and I think we've all been there (a finally sleeping baby, and trying to sneak away) but goodness, why make it more complicated than it has to be?
It sounds like it vastly improved his (and his family's) quality of life, and that is the goal of all symptom-medications. There is no cure for what he is going through, so why not use what is available to make his day to day life easier?
