I'm grew up in Shanghai, and yes we do go about our business in pajamas and I love it! I also love the variety of PJs available. I wish I could wear my PJs around here in the US. They're are so many styles and colors. They are NOT the drab boring mumus most americans are used to. As for the hygeine comment, yes we do sleep in these PJs but we usually own more than one pair and wash them daily while alternating pairs. The only places you probably couldn't wear PJs to are to work or to a formal restaurant (casual ones are ok). Also we tend to only wear them if we are staying near home. The rule of thumb is, if we have to take a motor vehicle there (i.e. a bus), you can't wear PJs. So we wouldn't wear PJs to the exact same market/restaurant if it's further away. =)
