When I taught high school in a building with 1K students I regularly caught some type of cold/virus within a month or so after school began in September. When I retired I seldom was sick.
Both are monosaccharides but I believe the molecule have a slightly different configuration. I remember buying "war stamps" as a kid. We'd bring our pennies to school and get stamps to put in a booklet like the old green stamps.
Brings back memory of setting pins in alleys like that when I was a young lad ! Anyone else remember having to grab the sides and jump up because some jackass decided to throw the ball down while you were still in the pit ??
Asimov reminds me of when in 1985 I had an internal bleeding incident. I lost a lot of blood and really could have used a transfusion. My doctor recommended against it as he said the blood supply was not safe. At the time it wasn't and I went very anemic for a while because of it.
