Obviously this woman will want to make herself sound like the injured party now that her actions have attracted the attention of the media and the Russian and US governments. I'm willing to bet she's vastly exaggerating anything the poor little boy did. She just didn't want to put in the love, time, and effort to help him - in which case she had no business adopting him in the first place! She should be charged with child abandonment and I hope social services starts monitoring her with her other child(ren). Anyone who is willing to trust a seven year old to random strangers online sounds like a completely unfit parent to me. She didn't make any effort to go through the proper channels to reverse the adoption or get the child help. People treat pulled sweaters better when they return them than this woman treated a small child. She's disgusting.
What a beautiful story and wonderful couple! They understand what it really means to be good parents - being there during difficult times and creating a stable sense of family and support. Not just going the easy route and adopting a baby that you can mold from scratch.
I love the site but I have to agree about feeling ripped off. And it wasn’t just $10. I’ve wasted $15 after S&H for a rubber duck I wouldn’t even regift so am planning to toss in the garbage. Even if I had just gotten a t-shirt at least that’s something I could *use.* I expected the high-end items would be a longshot, that’s the fun of it being a mystery sale, but seriously? A cheap rubber duck?? This will be the first and last Mystery Sale for me, Neatorama.

Aesquire's right. It's only fun to be unemployed if you're wealthy enough not to need a job in the first place. And if someone is that well off then it's good that they're not taking away jobs from those who need them. How can these people afford to travel and have fun without income?! Savings can dwindle to nothing a lot faster than they realize - either that or they have unlimited means.
Ted, that line is from the video. The mom says it to the reporter. Little imp probably doesn't even realize what he did wrong - thank goodness for that pooch!
Well said, Mark R. I feel sad and sick for the state of mind that thinks it's OK to do nothing when another human being is in severe danger. Only help others when it's convenient or safe for yourself? Pathetic.
I agree completely with Melissa and I_Iz_Hope. A job description detailing standards of protocol is meaningless in a situation like this and the two men who are hiding their cowardice behind that defense are pathetic. I hope karma puts them in a situation someday that makes them understand the crime they abetted. They didn't even have to fight off the rapist - just let him know there were witnesses who could ID him and were there. We'll never know if that's all it would have taken to save this woman. I hope the woman files a civil suit against both of them.
Ivymae, I never heard about the woman in WA - that's horrifying! The poor mother! This woman absolutely needs some kind of intervention to make her realize how dangerous this is. Like the officer said, the airbag could open up and that could easily kill the infant. All it would take is one other car hitting her and that baby is dead. She should have pulled into the parking lot of her kids' grade school and fed the baby then. There's no justification for her actions.
