Sid, "Oriental" was orginally meant to describe Middle East and Near East Asia (Iraq, Iran, Turkey, etc.), not Far East (what most use "Asian" to describe now: China, Thaland, Korea, Japan, etc.).
Sure the charcoal tastes better but if you use a grill 4-5 days a week then it is not even remotely convenient. We don't even start cooking dinner until 8pm because of time constraints so the last thing I want to do is wait for a proper charcoal fire to settle. If we really need to impart a smokey flavor we use a container of soaked wood chips. We use the grill for the leaner cooking method as much as we do for flavor. Plus, its nice not heating your kitchen up 20 degrees higher like when cooking indoors.
It's insulting to think they would eat leftovers? They sleep on the streets in clothes saturated with dirt and grease, dig through garbage bins for recyclables and anything else of value, tote their worldly possessions around in tattered garbage bags, and generally spend most of their day coping with a debilitating mental illness... feeling insulted about 10 minute old leftovers is the least of their worries.
The garbage bin just outside of the Subway in Embarcadero was very popular for scavenging for the homeless. I would see them pick meat and veggies from leftover subs pretty much every time I passed through.
They use the big Gatorade coolers (with the paper cups) for water. Merchandising/sponors bring about some interesting scenarios... like win a driver sponsored by Gatorade won a race that was sponsored by Powerade he threw the celebratory Powerade to the side and gulped down some Gatorade. The sponsors were not amused... we're talkin' LimeCat levels of non-amusement here.
At the Veterinary school my wife attended each class was about 75 people and of those only 3-5 were men (1 or 2 will be Asian/Indian but no other minorities, just a bunch of white girls). Implementing a socially accurate quota would drastically reduce the number of better qualified women that have been striving to work in this field their whole life. Veterinary medicine just isn't as popular of a profession for men any more. It is not that women are being chosen over men, the men simply aren't applying. To force acceptance simply to meet quota levels is absurd for the vet school and for corporate boards.
1st grade, I was home sick that day (chicken pox). I was laying on the couch in front of the bay window watching the launch. I was already a bit out of it from being sick so it really took me a bit to process what was seeing. It was awkward because the whole death concept is a bit difficult at that age. I remember that event so vividly though.

I'm Christian and find it hilarious... and true.
