I like Penn & Teller's idea. Build two building that look exactly the same as the old ones. The more I think about it, the more anything else just sounds like we're letting the bad guys win.

I really miss the gross-out boy culture of the 80's. I'm not sure if "innocent" is the right word, but there was just something wonderful about the pure unbridled kid-ness of it all. I'd rather my son play the Adventures of Boogerman over COD any day.

There have always been child kidnappings and accidents (many statistics claim less now than in the past), we just hear about it more thanks to the sensationalist 24/7 tv news cycle.

@R2K
Sigh. You freely admit that other companies have tried (and failed) to create a touchscreen tablet that people like... And use this fact to take a swipe at Apple? How does that even work? The iPad is succeeding because Apple created a touch-based os and believed in the device enough to market it properly (that 10 hour battery doesn't hurt either). Put one of those pen-based toshiba tablets running windows XP in front of this lady and see what happens.

"The world is flooded with news outlets that cater to your taste/viewpoint."

I think that's part of the problem. I want to watch news that doesn't cater to anything but the facts. I consider myself moderately conservative and (attempting to) watch Fox News nearly brings me to violence. Stewart clearly isn't attempting to portray himself as fair and balanced, yet he still goes after both sides pretty regularly. He's also funny and willing to take risks that piss people off.

I put my trust in NPR and the BBC. They may be slightly biased, but their primary goal is to provide the news, not eyeballs to advertisers. They're also willing to cover world events, not American Idol recaps.

I love Poltergeist, but I could never get past the ending. If a horrible evil inhabited my house, kidnapped my child and tortured my friends and family - I would get out of the freaking house! At one point they seem to think everything is a-ok and walk back into the house all smiley and cheery... which, of course, was a mistake. If any of this had happened to me, I would have pissed myself and ran screaming to the nearest metal hospital (after rescuing my family, of course). THEY GO BACK IN THE HOUSE! Argh. Still gets me riled up.
