Pity they probably won't see much use for infantry man who need it most. Gotta remember,
1. the military can't even afford to give Kevlar to soldiers
2. This thing probably costs $80,000 for a prototype, and won't see mass production for years
3. It will be made by the lowest bidder anyways.
Hopefully, our children will one day live to see such things become standard issue, but sadly I don't see any Afghanistan/Iraq war soldiers getting this one anytime soon. :(

Alex...at 150 decibels, you would be hard pressed to find ear protection that would adequately cover you. remember...it doesn't seem like a lot, but that's a base 10 logarithmic value. So 150 decibels is approaching the level of "Space shuttle launch" or "ground zero". Even at 140, you're looking at the loudest recommended level WITH hearing protection. Anything over that, and you still could experience pain, and hearing loss. Even for only short term exposure.
In a semi-related thought...Why don't the Somali's just do what the Nigerians do, and make money the old fashioned way? With internet scams about lost princes, and poorly written emails?

Tokyo Disney land has a great pirates ride too. As a PotC fan since childhood (lived in LA til I was 10) I was psyched to see my favorite ride, only they were all speaking "Nihon-go". Since I speak Japanese, this was considerably awesome to me. :)

Because all I can think of is HOT DOLPHIN whenever I see this, and then I giggle like a school girl for an hour.
