I remember going to see it new in 1970. And as a small child I was terrified. I love the Nightmare before Christmas stuff. It was looking stale and needed some updating. I understand the viewpoint of wanting it to stay all original too. But my kids didn't care for it much until they added the Nightmare stuff, so I think it's a good move.
