Another PA comment...drive-ins are still alive and well in rural Pennsylvania! There are 2 within 10 miles of my parents' house, and each has 3 screens showing double features every night during the summer. There's not a ton to do around there, so they get packed. Everyone brings picnic blankets and snacks and the kids run around and play baseball while we wait for it to get dark. I just saw Toy Story 3 in the Brownsville PA drive-in last week. One of the best things about coming from such a boring, little place!

Mmmkay, well, while you guys shrug and say, "It's protein," I'm going to take the three extra seconds to wash those disgusting things off. Call me squeamish, I prefer not to knowingly eat insects.

That is truly terrifying. Incidentally, I live a block away from Warhol's childhood address in Pittsburgh. But though I heartily laughed at the above posts (especially yours, abdulhamid), I'm pretty sure it's filled with something else. Narcotics, wigs, and gay porn for all!

I've met Raj Patel when he spoke at an event sponsored by the nonprofit that I work for. He's a great speaker and quite a figure in the food policy world. He also swears like a sailor and signed his book Stuffed and Starved for me with the inscription "With deep f****** appreciation for the work you do, Raj" at my request that he swear in his inscription. So basically, he's awesome. I'm not sure he's the messiah, but if he is, I'm glad I got to drink a beer with him.

I work at a university library (if you couldn't tell from my name), and I've found a bunch of interesting things. Once I found someone's (current, non-expired) passport. That's quite an expensive bookmark. No bacon, though. That's hilarious.

Two words: Catholic school. We received an automatic detention if our shirts were not tucked in. Boys were allowed mustaches, but not beards. Girls were allowed to wear 3 inch heels, but no backless shoes. We would receive a letter grade deduction if we didn't wear school colored-sweats to gym class. Ahh, the "best" days of our lives.

What a hideous monstrosity. Some of that oak moulding is pretty attractive and the granite is nice, but yuck. 36,000 square feet of THAT? On the brighter side, it's fantastic that they can salvage so much. Not everyone agrees with my (admittedly picky) taste, and it's great that they'll be able to recycle it instead of creating more waste.
