The supposed irony is lost unless you subscribe to the santa claus explanation of what it means to be psychic. I've known people who could be /called/ psychic (mostly precognitive dreams) but I've yet to meet a someone who has a link to instantly knowing everything without fail and the only people who appear to claim as such are T.V whores worse than the greediest tele-evangelical programs.
Scientology as an organized group is absolutely frightening and I wouldn't trust any one of them to be an auditor. The only videos I've ever seen with people following dianetics where they were actually able to make some sense of what scientology were the videos on Freezoners. There was one on videosift that was about an hour long hosted by the comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli. It was pretty interesting getting an outside view of what all the hubub is over Scientology (aside from publicly decrying the evils of particular people using psychs and and turning people into walking cliche vendors)
People just love a story that gives them the illusion they are smarter and or better than other people. Apparently this type is also the type to believe the Landover Baptists are a real group.
On the one hand after reading that article my nerd side is just annoyed by people who want to try out terraforming projects on mars. When we figure out how to shift the magnetic bands around the planet, then it might be feasible.
On the other, my geek side is thrilled at the discovery of the entrance to one of the underground spaceports of Mars.
