Unlike Christophe, this scene still has the power to grab me by the throat. My father before me and I, for many years, wouldn't take showers with opaque curtains. To this day all mine are clear but I'll shower in a hotel room or at my girlfriend's place.

I received many of these emails from them and almost joined for just that reason. Jerks... Especially for someone like me who had such a difficult time in school, the thought that someone might have cared enough to write me was compelling. (I knew it was a scam because I knew no one would *really* write me... *grin*)

Read the relevant parts of the ADA here in the U.S. and you'll see that he has no need to *prove* his cat is a service animal. All business owners have the right to do is to ask, "are you disabled?" and, "is this a service animal?" If you answer yes to either point, they are obliged to let the animal in. There are service cats/dogs/birds/snakes/etc. out there and they all do good. It's a damn shame when non-disabled people are so judgmental.

I've known women who made that choice much later in life. It's not uncommon (in the literal sense of the word) but it is amazing and courageous and very honorable.

I wish her all the best that can possibly happen!

Please, please, please put your disclaimer at the top and the bottom. I understand about the need for income and I celebrate your ability to find some, but when I read a review that is bought and paid for, I put it in a different part of my brain and it's very disorienting to find out later.

I'll be honest and you can take as you will. When I learn you have been paid for the review, there is nothing you can say that will make me see it as other than advertising. It's just the way my mind works. Sometimes advertising is valuable (I plan to visit this book's site and I may buy it), but it is always advertising.

I wonder about these things. Dogs get so much of their confidence from their pack leaders (us!), so all the ways we reduce their confidence seem hurtful.

My has been blind for 3 years. He goes everywhere with me (camping, running, riding on my motorcycle) and gets along fine with a bit of firm command. This seems like a crutch in the derogatory meaning of the word.

He isn't up to the caliber of any professional opera singer, but so what? He swept everyone off their feet, and that's what performing is all about, isn't it?

Brilliant!
