Way back in the day I actually thought Martha was da bomb. ( I was young 'n stupid. ) I had a subscription to her magazine and I recalled reading an article where she decried her hatred for matress dust ruffles and how tacky they were. Fast forward a year or so later when she unleashed her collection on Kmart, what did I see whilst meandering the aisles of said reputable establishment? Why Martha Stewart (TM) mattress dust ruffles of course! It was like finding out the truth to Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy! What a sellout!

When I moved from the Midwest to Houston 4 years ago, the apartment complex blamed an ongoing issue with the front security gate constantly quitting on these ants. Never hearing of such a thing before just made their excuse reek of bullturds and thought that they were too cheap to just fix the dern thing. So I guess there is actually validity to their claim, although they are still too cheap to fix other things that can't be blamed on those crazy little critters.

I THINK I see it on satellite images on Google Maps. Looks to be about 6 miles north of Darvaza, about 2 miles to the right of the division line. Appears as an orange dot.

Doug! I get that theme song stuck in my head at least once a week.

I can't believe they no longer show You Can't Do that on Television, the reason for the whole Nick slime thing. Where do kids nowadays think that came from? Perhaps they could do an updated version?

A LOT of early Nick was Canadian programming, such as YCDTOTV. When I was little in the 80's our crappy podunk town didn't carry Nick so I went to my grandparents' as often as possible to watch Pinwheel. I really enjoyed their animated shorts on the show featuring Canadian and British imports like Paddington Bear, Danger Mouse, Hat Town (could have that name wrong). GOD I wish I could get that on DVD. If I memmer correctly, Neatorama featured a Youtube clip of the Pinwheel theme song a few months back.

Correct me if I'm wrong, 10+ years out of high school German, but I recall my German teacher commenting on Kennedy's infamous "Berliner" gaffe. What he said was "Ich bin EIN Berliner" with the "ein" he referred to himself as being a jelly-filled doughnut, and that was why the German crowd cheered because they thought it funny as hell. In German when referencing their place of Origin the article is left out, thus what Kennedy MEANT to say was "Ich bin Berliner."

I was in the third grade. They had a TV set up in the auditorium and I was walking through as it occurred. It took me a little bit of time to figure out why the principal was crying.

I may not know about the length of the rolls, but Charmin definitely is making theirs NARROWER. I noticed the change last summer while at the store, where they had old and new stock together. The rolls are nearly a full centimeter narrower than before. Tons of companies have pulled the same stunt for years. Ever notice canned goods being fractions or whole ounces less than they used to be? Edy's ice cream (Dreyer's in Texas) isn't even a gallon anymore.

Aw, the Charle Brown tree is too darling! I might have to get one. Once I convinced my dad to buy the last remaing tree at the store on Chistmas Eve so it wouldn't be lonely all because of that show.

And the Dew tree is awesome! File that in the "Why didn't I think of that?" folder.

My dad taught my cat Husie (I mentioned her before for her hunting prowess) and her mother Cuddles to fetch, too. Cuddles' preference was pens and markers, with a particular incident her emptying an entire desk drawer of them one at a time in front of the bedroom door in an effort to play fetch in the middle of the night. Husie loved celophane wrapped hard candy. If you didn't want to fight her over a piece, you had to unwrap it behind a closed door but she'd still come running. It turns out cats fetching really isn't that uncommon.
