The reason you've never heard it is because this is a new composition based on "Taps", not "Taps" itself. Taps is a signal call, they are by nature brief. Mr Rieu is a great showman and needed something simple and effective to showcase the trumpet talents of this pretty little girl, so he no doubt had his arrangers come up with something using the limited range and effective intervals of that haunting call. Here is the West Point site on the real call:
Re Princess Diana's car crash: the (drunken) driver, Al Fayed, and the princess all died. The passenger, a bodyguard, riding in the front seat survived, though badly injured. Not coincidentally he was the only one wearing a seatbelt.
The name is a double pun "Dovima" was the stage name of the first supermodel, an impossibly elegant looking woman. Google "Dovima and the elephants" to see her most famous image.
For all of you cranking on Texas and North America, I think you should know in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria a forester can and will shoot your dog dead right in front of you if Fido's off the leash in a game management area, which is pretty much everywhere not paved. Other countries may have similar laws, but I can't speak of my own knowledge to that. As a dog lover I don't approve, but it's not just some yee-haw barefoot weirdos who do this.
Re loop lubrication, it says thousands of tiny nozzles (tausende kleine Düsen) keep up a fine spray of water so maybe the effect is more like air hockey than being flushed.
The voiceover is describing how the german Bureau of Technical Standards (TÜV) was testing this Slovenian waterslide to see if there were any reason why this design couldn't be allowed in Germany. Apparently not. (Although I would wonder about water quality after scaring a few dozen people that badly). The test persons are saying that the "rocket start" where the floor just falls way under their feet was the scariest part. I don't see how anyone stuck in the tube could be gotten out quickly. Eeww!
That thing is an eerily accurate rendition of a chihuahua. The way they hunker down with their feet & tail tucked looking worried you might leave them behind. it's really really creepy! Does it shake?
