Its obviously for holding heat, large mass of metal and thin handle.
Someone else said bedwarmer, interesting but I don't think that's what it is, although possible.
It appears to be some sort of clothes iron, or something used to place warmth onto something, while still being able to control it with the handle.

This is old tech, the only thing new is it lugs around a battery and starter at all times? along with the engine and fuel?!?
Brushless electric engines make a ton more power, run silently, don't need fuel, and are easier to control.
