Many many years ago, I also reported the theft of potted pot plants to a neighborhood cop. A day later, the thief (a 12 year old kid) wheeled them back to me in his wagon, thanks to the neighborhood cop. True story.
This is really dumb. Am I the only one who remembers "stadium horns" from back in the 60s? This is nothing new, people! Fans used to blow these things at American football games all the time---just not so many all at once!
I've actually done this. I doubt the toad is fearful. Toads can jump like crazy to get out of danger. I remember that when I scratched the toad, then stopped, he'd stay right where he was.
Take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_suicide_rate
and you'll see that's not exactly true. Rates in China, for example, are comparable to Canada. Many Euro countries are much higher than many Asian countries. And look at India....same kind of "Asian" education system, rates comparable to or lower than US.
For my family, gumbo has always been file' gumbo, with no okra at all. It's a chicken soup that you start by making a brown roux. Cook it for a long time, then add some oysters and some file'. Serve over rice. That's gumbo.
Here's why this could be nonsense. All over Asia, kids stay up doing homework until 2 AM. They get up at 7 and go to school and stay up again until 2 AM. This study apparently doesn't control for HOW the time is spent. Kids who are up doing homework (like mine often is--not until 2, but until 11 or 11:30), may be quite different from kids up watchhing TV, chatting on line, hanging out, etc.
Detroit used to be the bowling alley capital of the world. Where I grew up, there were 5 bowling alleys all within a 15 minute drive from my house. One of them had 87 lanes.
