My house payment with escrow is less than I can rent a decent apartment in my area of half the size.
I am my own landlord.
I get better discounts on insurance for being a homeowner rather than a renting.
The tax benefits are full of WIN.
I can play my home theater as loud as I want.
I can get things repaired on my schedule.
I can make any changes I want to my living space without having to get approvals from management.
I can have pets without paying extra.
No noisy neighbors. (Except for the divorced couple two doors up that scream and holler at each other each evening, but I consider that entertainment.)
Did I mention that I can play my home theater as loud as I want?
...just to name a few of the positives.

Yeah, renting is oh so much better.

Sure there are downsides to home ownership, but I consider the upsides to make it all worthwhile.

$2.09 this morning in Dayton, Ohio...but diesel is still $3.49+. Gas companies have found their bread-n-butter: raping truckers. That's why regular gas is getting cheaper. We can stop driving, truckers can't.

I like how I hear some people bitch and moan about al-Jazeera but glorify Fox "News". Sheesh...fair and balanced my left nut. "The Onion" is a billion times more informed and balanced than Fox News.

I wholeheartedly agree with "GreenvilleRoad": FTA Satellite really is the way to go if you want to get any real information since most cable and satellite carriers are only interested in carrying the fluff that make them real money. Why do you think many channels on pay tv services are shopping channels? Count them and see.

FTA Satellite can be fun to play with, too. Finding all the goofy, strange and wonderful wild feeds can be a good time waster on a cold, snowy winter night.

I just wish cable and satellite were ala-carte so I could pick and choose the channels I wanted to watch. Weather Channel, Cartoon Network, Food Network, Starz/Encore, TBS, TNT, BBC America, Sci-Fi and a small selection of news stations would be about it for me. Oh, the days of ala-carte C-band!

I don't see where this is even a politically biased posting. It is about public opinion on a channel broadcast via a public utility. The public has a right to voice its opinion on this issue and it has to be taken seriously. Can the same be said for Time Worthless or Comcrap? Heck no! This is a highly unusual event...how many community-owned cable systems are in the US? Not many.

Oy vay! Is the Beatles' label Apple Corps going to sue as well? How can one confuse a hand-drawn apple and a name like GreenNYC with the stylized apple of Apple Computer? Sheesh!

NYC was the Big Apple way before Apple Computer was a gleam in its daddy's eye.

Sacrilegious, I think. Traveling regularly to Cinci and seeing this always makes me shake my head and think how awful these "mega-churches" really are. Are the people there worshiping God, or are they worshiping the pastor and his graven creations?

Besides, it figures it would be next to the Traders World flea market and across from the Turtle Creek flea market in Mason.

Oh, and the "truck stop" there on Route 63 is a known prostitutional "den of iniquity", and the Hustler Mega Store is just around the corner!

Lots to do down there in good ol' Mason.

My dad worked in the auto industry for a number of years, and told me of when computers first started running cars that they would get in cars for service that would be reported shutting down for no reason.

It was soon discovered that this would happen near the same place - on or around I-75 between Middletown and Cin-Day Road. (A bit more than half way between Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio.)

After more cars reported this issue, it was discovered that it happened at the same times every day.

My dad drove a Ford LTD with a computerized body controller down in that area and, sure enough, it quit.

It was then discovered that the Voice of America shortwave radio station (now gone) was transmitting on a frequency near to the clock frequency of the computer module in the affected cars!
