I agree with SpaceMonkeyX, it sounds like the start of an ARG to me. I've done a couple and they can be a lot of fun but I'm surprised Discovery is doing one for Shark Week, if indeed that's what this is.
Agreed, this appears to be a hoax. Everything about it, even the story, screams fake. I'm not a Photoshop expert but I do a bit of website design and photo retouching and the picture is all wrong. Unless there are some seriously strange circumstances here the lighting, shadow and perspective are all wrong. Proof please.
This is a bad idea. At best it's a waste of time and another excuse for people to buy pure breeds or 'special' breed cats and dogs rather than adopting one of the millions of homeless animals that need a good home. At worst...I don't even want to think about that.
That should say: "-This- is how I get noticed on Neato? lol" That's what happens when you read two blogs at once.
And Alex, seriously? Reporting on your own reporting as if it's actually newsworthy or in any way neat? This is just getting to cheesy for me. Can we please have some actual news that's actually neat now?
I wasn't enraged, just offended. The title is misleading and while that's not exactly a crime it's in poor taste and they can hardly be surprised that people were offended. I think it's pretty clear the whole point of the title was to upset people and it worked. Neatorama is a fairly popular blog that hardly needs to use sensationalistic tactics to gain popularity so this little stunt was disappointing to those of us who are loyal readers. Besides, it's hardly the first time something posted there has upset people. Several times videos of animals, that many of us believe demonstrated animal cruelty, resulted in an angry comment storm. The difference is this one was intentionally inflammatory and honestly I think the folks at Neatorama should be ashamed of themselves for stooping so low. None of us are saying they should be stoned, just that they need to demonstrate more sensitivity in the future.
First, I want to say that the title is misleading and obviously meant to shock us. I'm not very happy about that as even the implication of incestuous behavior turns my stomach. She isn't breastfeeding him, she's donating breast milk to him.
I'm fighting my initial response which is to be super grossed out. I shouldn't be, we drink cow breast milk after all. It's not that it's breast milk that freaks me out, it's that it's a daughter sharing it with her father and the image that it puts in your head. I think I'd be more comfortable with this if it was anonymous breast milk from a milk bank (which already exist for moms who never develop breast milk while pregnant). Either way, I think it's amazing if it actually work (both I and my mother have cancer) and I hope that the medical community is working hard to figure out WHAT in the breast milk is the key and how to replicate it.
What the hell Nasa? I'm fine with them not naming it Colbert, I can understand that one, but to choose tranquility over Serenity? Why even have the poll? This really makes me mad and hurts my feelings. Jerks.
I'm gonna go with cute but that doesn't mean I'd want to wake up in the middle of the night with one on my chest staring me down. Remember folks, no matter how cute they are, birds are just dinosaurs in disguise. Given half a chance they'd still eat you.
I agree with Supaswag, this is just another example of the Japanese infantilizing women because they have a sick obsession with the violation of young girls. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Japanese people in general are lovely people and they have a lot to offer the world artistically/technologically etc. But this unhealthy fascination with very young girls, rape and shaming or debasing women is indicative of some seriously sick cultural issues.
This is obviously a fake article at The Onion: http://www.theonion.com/content/news/japan_pledges_to_halt_production but it makes a good point.
I'm 29 and my husband is almost 34. I could hear it very clearly, it was quite loud and piercing and gave me a headache with a bit of nausea like when a migraine is starting. My husband listened at the same time and could hear it but not as well as me, he said it was more muffled for him and that it made his 'ears feel weird' for awhile.
I find this extremely annoying and offensive. Not only would I not shop at any store that used this method of deterrence I would actively boycott it.
I liked it even though it was mean spirited. The trouble is that girl was far to clever and creative for her time. Today a girl like that would grow up to be an actress, a film maker or a writer.
I could be wrong but this looks like a VERY good fake. I'll give them credit, it's very very good, but I've never met a child that young with that level of balance and dexterity. The way he moves his arm, hands and fingers is frankly unbelievable. I think the people who created this video hoax just wanted to see how many folks they could trick with their impressive skills. Sad that they're wasting their talent on something like this.
