@Vonskippy- where do you think monetary donations go? it's not like many people are willing to take their time and energy to actually go over there and help. it's easier for a mass amount of people to provide money for those who are willing and able to help to afford it. Money can also go toward Person Finder 2011: Japan Earthquake, Red Cross, and other such organizations that are not government-funded. Most importantly, it can be used when emergency shelters that, because of the extensive damage and wiped out communications, hardly have enough food and such--other countries can aid in that if they have enough money to do so.
