I for one bought a top loading washer a bit more than a year ago and it's worked beautifully. Front loaders seem like a step backwards for a washing machine, it's counter productive to "tumble" the water than to let centripetal force do it's thing. There's also the cost, about $250 for what I got vs $500+ for basic front loaders. The only front loader I would ever get would be a dryer/washer combo but those are ungodly expensive.
"She died three months later of unrelated causes."
That bit needs to be fixed, the times reported it wrong and has since fixed it. NBC, neatorama and consumerist need to fix their articles... and maybe fact check just a bit more.
My take on the first 2, the others just seem like common religious stigmas that were used to control or otherwise placate unknowns of the time.
Rule 1: shaven and untouched for a month would get rid of foreign lice, other parasites, and possibly show any STD's so as to not infect the whole army/population.
Rule 2: Possibly to keep people from eating unknown and possibly poisonous insects.

The Obvious Answer:
That second group of settlers didn't really get the chance to investigate what happened to the original bunch, because a few years later an even bigger mysterious phenomena occurred: Blue-eyed, pale-complexioned Indians began showing up on nearby Croatan Island.
So what to make of these mysterious children, who looked like they might have been the descendents of white/Indian mixed race parents? On CROATAN island?
It's almost as if, we don't know, a certain group of settlers realized their colony sucked, and went and found some natives nearby who seemed to know how to live off the land. And that they then left their shitty colony forever to go live happily ever after on Croatan Island, and to have impressive amounts of sex with the natives.
How is it we let these type of people raise our kids? If there is one thing this will accomplish it is retarding the growth and maturity of the next generations.
I'm sorry you can't just claim an organization deny volunteers. Volunteering by nature is a decision by a 3rd party, the choke hold the union has does not cover every person that comes in contact with the city. Volunteers also work for free which removes any civil suits as no money changed hands. If it were me I would toss the whole union and put the boy scouts to work. It seems they actually want to do it.
Wait, the banks collect the interest on the accounts until the recipient withdraws it from the card? IANALoA but I'm pretty sure that's illegal, it's your money from the time the state deposits it, the bank taking the interest is tantamount to theft.
And charging anything for customer service is just plain wrong, if you are a customer then it is their obligation to help you with anything related to the business transaction... I feel sorry for those in states that do everything possible to keep them from opting out of scams like this.
I agree with the whole college hoax idea. Anymore college is like daycare for teenagers whose parents want out of the house. With the price of books, classes that are in no way related to your major, expenses on top of expenses that make airline charges look tame, and professors that only care about their paycheck with no downside to failing or poor curriculum. None of it is needed and when you do get into the real world you still don't have the qualifications.
For example of why college is a scam: I and a fellow school mate went to the same college, same major, same classes. We both studied computer science. I dropped out after the first semester seeing no classes that would matter at all in the coming years (this was late 90s and the school still taught COBOL) He stayed in. I started my own business, later moved onto a full time IT admin position at a manufacturing plant and make 35k+ a year with a nice 401k and full health care. He works construction for his dad, Making I would assume sub 20k/year but he's got a piece of paper saying he's edumacated.
It is a bailout if all the people that caused the problem in the first place keep their jobs, pensions, and golden parachutes, and those that fell for it to continue in foreclosure and bankruptcy. Fixing the problem would mean restructuring the businesses, renegotiating tons of loans and *ghasp* lower the wages and outright fire alot of them.
It looks like it was automatically generated. I would assume as soon as she called they would realize not only is the amount ridiculously small but 12 years would be past any type of statute of limitations for debts. Much like the story of my aunt getting a phone bill for 2cents, when systems are run almost exclusively by computers there is no concept of common sense.

I would love to see one of them say "we can't tell if this is good or bad because our god didn't create it.. wha?"
Looks like what the chef had left over from another plate. Still costs $210.
