I remember Neatorama posting this story back in 2008. I had just had become a father for the first time and was overwhelmed by the love I had for my new son. I couldn't comprehend how someone could treat a child so inhumanely. That article really made an impression, I can remember weeping as I read. We have no control over what really moves us, and this story back in 2008 has stuck with me ever since and I think about Danielle often. Thanks for linking this update, I'm all weepy again, but at least I know she is doing well.

I think some of you are missing the point. This position was offered up as an item for a charity auction. The actions of these "Limousine liberals" are being misrepresented by those of you who choose to twist the truth.

Critical thinking is a great tool that everyone should learn. Blind liberal bashing for the sake of bashing is asinine as is conservative bashing.

My mother and father in-law went to China this past fall. My mother in-law had several pictures to show that she was eager to share - local women holding their infants and toddlers over garbage cans doing what they needed to do. The child's pants had a opening, a flap that exposed the bare bottom. As a new parent I'd love to know how in the hell I could teach my 9 month old that trick.

I'm tremendously glad this discussion worked, with all viewpoints being heard equally, and such a fair conclusion. I had my doubts when I first posted that it would make it past the death ray of the Queue-bot. I agree with Johnny Cat, this is win-win. Yay Alex for a great compromise. Thank you.

@philliposophy, I don't see it as a camp of pros and a camp of haters. I like the idea that Paul and many others have put forward, that the UQ become it's own thing (a la Boingboing Gadgets). A daily roundup could be promoted on the front page with links to the UQ page.
