A shame that The Daily Mail is one of the more right wing papers in the UK which most people with a few brain cells would not buy...

They received the most complaints ever for a press article in the UK with this article about the death of pop star Stephen Gately. A sad, untimely and natural death which they used as a nasty excuse to promote homophobia.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-1220756/A-strange-lonely-troubling-death--.html

Neatorama and the Presurfer are both websites which are published outsede the UK so I am sure that they are unaware of the contents of this rag. However - this particular newspaper produces this sort of stuff as a Trojan Horse with which to promote its own agenda.

Be careful of the Daily Mail! I would *never* associate myself with it - but then - I am a socialist *gasp*! (but I do get free healthcare pinko that I am).

Look in to the politics of newspapers bearing wondeful 'gifts' such as this. They may not tally with your own.

Oh dear!

As an educator myself - I am torn here. This pair were dumb (and dumber to imagine that the kids here were without immediate access to social media).

On the other hand, they don't look much older than the kids themselves. I have never thought it a good idea to go straight from university to teacher training and then back in to school. The gap is not wide enough in terms of years, between the students and the teachers. The school should take a long and hard look at their recruitment policies for teaching staff.

The gap between the ages of the people involved her is plenty wide enough for the experience of five or six years to lead to inappropriate displays of course. Perhaps not too wide for group behaviour to be dictated by the many rather than the few.

I hope that this leads to constructive debate about the entry age for teachers in to High School education. Perhaps it is better (as I believe) for people to work in the 'real world' for a few years to get a better idea about who are the children and who are the teachers - and then consider education as a career.

It is - as is shown here - fairly easy to allow the moment to go to far - and then infantilisation in this case follows but with the unfortunate addition of all too adult knowledge - and then the completely inappropriate behaviour.

I do hope that the pair are not banned from teaching for life, however. Rare is the person who does not have some truly embarassing memory from their teens or mid twenties. Or perhaps at any time in life. They may yet have something to offer the world of education - even if it is a future of condoms and bananas.

If schools like this insist - as they obviously have - in employing extremely young teachers (extremely cheap and move on before they accrue many benefit rights) then they must expect this.

I say this with a semi apology to those young teacheres who cut the mustard - but must then feel bound to pursue my own question as to why they would want to rejoin the world of children so soon after leaving it.

The final responsibility for this lies almost as much with the school as with the pair of idiots who chose to go back to high school so soon after they left it.

The Quazen article, although published later is much more descriptive, seems to know something about photographic technique and isn't just an excuse for a stream of pictures, as the environmental graffiti one is...

SenorMyserioso - how do you know he has not harmed anyone? How exactly? FBI?

"Just because he is old, does not make it right."
-Did anyone say it does?

Yes, this is "neatorama" - by definition then, anything on here is 'neat'. Hmmm

"Oh, maybe I am over reacting. Ever been mugged?"
-You are overreacting. Yes, I have been mugged.

Well, perhaps I am. I don't really care about the age of my mugger, tho. I am sure you did not, either.

To bisonours

"I look forward to an article here about a centenarian raping a College fresher. That would make us all laugh out loud. Just because he is old, does not make it right. "

Seriously WTF? If you're not a troll or drunk, then you have real issues here.

"Ever been mugged?" Ever been raped...? Think a little when you write things you don't have a clue about. KTHXBYE.

That is just rude.

Apart from not having a clue about what HTHX and the rest stands for, how dare you make assumptions about what I have and have not been through.

Neatorama have made a serious misjudgement here. Period.

To include this feature is to belittle octogenarians.

I know many - and this behaviour is either one which can be connected with dementia or previous learned behaviour.

Either the person cannot help it or he is a recidivist.

Either way it is reprehensible for it to be presented as 'neat'.

What is "neat" about being robbed?

What other crimes has this man committed?

If he is robbing a bank now, it is likely not his first offence - perhaps the inclusion here might enable his previous victims to recognise him.

Shame on you. Neatorama. Neat or arama? Neither.

Oh, maybe I am over reacting. Ever been mugged?

Npt April 1 so...

Every single dog I have ever known would probably submit to wearing one of these, such was their training. Even tho their most basic instinct would be to tear it off, they would not.

Every single dog I have ever known would probably give me a look of acute embaressment when I tried to put one on. People who have lived with dogs will concur - have you ever seen a dog try to conceal its own fart? Nah. They can't.

Every single dog I have ever known is better trained than to poop in an inappropriate place. And thy keep it in place till they get to where they should!

Every single dog I have ever known has lived in places where they can poop in peace - in places that they can do so. I wouldn't know them otherwise.

A dog who needs one of these is a dog that poops at home and people don't care to help them know better...

Is it really April 1 or have we come to this?

If the content of the article - which for the first half concentrates on the CONS of owning/buying a Tamarin isn't enough to put off everyone but those most committed to the upkeep and preservation of the animal with all the attendant responsibilities - then I don't know what is!

Sadly only the future of the captive Tamarin is 100% assured. The poverty of those people living in its habitat has meant that the illegal pet trade has profited, but just as much harm has been done to the local populations of the species by deforestation as anything else. Plus, the good old plastic bag, strewn with abandon by settlers in those areas, has killed many - imagine, it only weighs a pound. A lot of projects have been started (including one which collects the plastic bags from the forest and makes them in to long lasting and durable shopping bags by combining hundreds in to a single bag structure then to be sold on)but many beliee it to be too little too late.

We have to be pragmatic. Captive Tamarins may one day be used to revitalize and reinvigorate a stock in the wild with declining genetic viability. However if they do not have a 'wild' in which to live (another issue but inextricably bound to the fate of this species) then where do they go?

Sorry folks, this has raised as many questions as it does answers...

Emmiline, when I wrote the blurb above, the word daft was used not to indicate any stupidity on the part of the dog - absolutely not! Rather I used daft to indicate something of their temperament - bouncy, fun, willing to do silly things with you and the kids, zany... perhpaps it lost something in translation... remember the pic of Einstein with his tongue hanging out and eyes wide open? Daft. And no one would ever accuse him of being stupid! :-)
