I think I would die after one of those. Yet something tells me I would die happy.

As a Brit this has only the vaguest of cultural reference points for me - I think it may have been shown on the early shows for kids back in the seventies, but I have no firm memory. It seems familiar though...
Sad that so many did not live the 'happy ever after'.
One thing tho - and as a novice here, do correct me if I am wrong. The films seem free of racial stereotypes which might make them quite remarkable for films of their time and place...
For any Brits reading this - do you remember the Double Deckers? I know it is a lot later - but what a series!

A fascinating piece. Not sure how 'neat' this is, however. It sounds like some sort of mutual use - or abuse - I am not sure which... But leaves me wondering who has the upperhand here. or if that really matters.
Overalll, glad I read about this but = not neat!

I love this (but then I did submit it so you may have guessed it).
Christian allegeory did pop in to my mind with the halo effect as Milo was passing back through the door but I suspect it was a visual metaphor instead of a sales pitch! (my reading).
@ some of you re the length. One of the (many) things I liked about this was exactly that - the length of time we are given to learn about Milo and get to know him, his backstory and so on. I liked the fact that this animation did not use (and abuse)cultural media (and expedient) signposts for the sake of brevity.
Am with snarlz with the blast off... I was expecting a journey elsewhere at that point, not a short cut back to the door. But v cool animation that once done just *had* to be left in... :-)
I am glad that Aden is in on this discussion here - I posted the link without him knowing (sorry, but didn't know whether it would hit the front page!) but I was entranced by Milo's Journey the moment I saw it because it hit a nerve for me - and no, I didn't lose my parents in a fire before you ask!
It was enriched uranium what did them in..
(but that's between you and me and I am sure the British police are not reading th... erk..).
Anyway, what struck me was the sense of storytelling, the great care and love that had gone in to its creation and the whole karma of the piece.
With karma in mind, everyone has a right to criticise. Let's be constructive.

When I was two (so I am told) I used to eat tomatoes like any other fruit. The pushchair regularly looked like the scene of a vampire attack.
Have yet to understand how lettuce can possibly have any nutritional value.
"Political correctness gone mad" as they say in Blighty!

Perhaps fingers are pointing in the wrong direction here.
Go back thirty years and you have considerably less obes people. Right? Thirty years before that and even less (despite the Melissa's benign but historically inaccurate comment).
The rise in obesity - worldwide is simply down to diet and not necessarily down to choice. The rise in obesity is directly linked to the advent of mass produced, pre-prepared food.
I am not making excuses for people who are morbidly obese. However, the finger should at least in part be wagged elsewhere.
Buy in to capitalism. Die in to capitalism.

This almost gave me a Jar Jar Binks moment..
But on the other hand, there may well be some seriously supressed nuns having a good laugh at our expense somewhere. Sigh. We can only hope.
Almost worthy of a cation competition - my entry would be "Hey, throw this stone first, Mom".
:-)

Good Grief!
Just googled them to see if they were still around... it seems that Elmira died in 1963 but it looks like the others are still with us.
Shame there are only two left - would have been fun to see them (try to) recreate this on America's Got Talent...

Well here is another educator's tuppence worth.
I have no idea how, but somehow the chain of command and responsibility has become really screwed up at this institution. I imagine that somewhere in the school's charter is a document called 'Student Disciplinary Procedure' which outlines what the students may be punished for and exactly how they may be punished. Any establishment without one (and a sibling publication called something like 'Student Complaints Procedure') is asking for trouble.
Then, as part of the enrolment process the student signs that they and their parents have read these ToCs and will abide by them. As will the institution.
Situation sorted. How did this get so out of hand?

Llewellyn (one of them at least!)
The progressive (even by today's standards) laws of Hywel Dda c992 AD
Owain Glyndwr
The cultural role of Eisteddfodau
The Rebecca Riots
The treachery of the Blue Books - you mention the report of 1846 but fail to say explicitly that it was a pack of racist lies!
The Methodist revival of the late 18th century..
The fact that the last census showed an increase in the use of the Welsh language in Wales for the first time in over a century!
Apart from that, there are only 3 other things I can think of that you left out - the sheep, the rain and the singing!
