Well, speaking as a college-educated person who has a blue-collar job, I say KUDOS to Mike Rowe! I am trying VERY hard right now to go on a rant about how blue-collar workers get short-shrifted by the more "acceptable" white-collar members of society. I may have two college degrees, but after a long day of work, I look at my roughened hands with PRIDE. If anybody asks me what my most prized possession is, I hold up my calloused palms and say "TAKE A LOOK! HERE THEY ARE!"

First one otter, and then a'n'otter otter! (sorry)
After THOSE rambunctious house-imps, I don't think I'm going to chastise my cats for their mischief again . . .

Actually, what it needs most is John Cleese in the middle of it doing the "Silly Walks."

Weird, though:
I can't help but think about my own family.
Father? well over $100,000 in savings and investments, retired at age 65, presently living large in his retirement. Doesn't have a kind word for me anytime we meet.
Eldest brother? Computer consultant who makes six figures working from home. Cuts me off mid-sentence whenever I open my mouth.
Sister? Fulltime stay-at-home mom married to CPA who pulls in six figures.
me? Working bluecollar paycheck to paycheck essentially, and just had to declare bankruptcy. However, I am still happy, because after decades of putting up with the condescending and belittling I found the strength within myself to give up trying to mesasure up and walk away from it all and become my own person.
One thing I've learned which keeps me going is this: I may not have much, but I DO have enough. And that in my opinion makes me richer than anybody else I know.
