Shakespeare's Comments

Consider this: If a teenager, instead of having to be in school by 7 (that's the schedule where I live), gets to sleep in and start school at 11 a.m., not only will they likely sleep in (and get much needed shut-eye, since they are still at the growing stage where they need around 10 to 11 hours of sleep), but that also means classes won't end until around 6 p.m. which means their parents will be home from work, and thus able to monitor their activities better.

As it is where I live, the kids are pretty much free at 2 p.m., and they wander all over the streets until their parents get home.

The elementary kids here have the later schedule... school starts at 9. Why not make the secondary schools later, instead of earlier? I know teens who get around 4-5 hours of sleep each night. Not good.

And meanwhile 137 drug deals took place in the area, 7 homes were broken into, and 39 people were driving dangerously while intoxicated.

Yes, the stats are made up. The sentiment is real, though. I can't believe they'd waste their time on this.

How does someone GET a job like this without being able to read?

Then again, I actually did try to take the exam for the postal service once. It took the administrators of the test 45 minutes to explain to everyone there how to fill out the name portion of the test. No joke. The entire test was supposed to take less than an hour, and I ended up not taking the exam because I was an instructor and had to get to my next class. Gave me a whole new perspective on the level of intelligence the government seemed to be looking for.

For our next episode, my "special friend" will help us with two crafts: refining metal to create authentic goblin weaponry, and hair weaving to help contain the oil spill in the Gulf.

This is one of my favorite pieces! Leroy Anderson writes some really inventive things, and my father exposed us kids to his ingenuity pretty early on.

Thanks for sharing the link! I haven't heard this in years, and I've never seen a film of it in performance.
