Is it only in the US that the most common reaction to seeing an unidentified creature is to start blasting away at it?

I've been to the Alamo Drafthouse and I can attest to the house rules being very clearly spelled out. Bravo to them for enforcing the rules and allowing the well-mannered moviegoers to enjoy the film they paid to see.

Great post! Pitties are such a misunderstood breed, and it breaks my heart that people exploit them. They're naturally loving, loyal dogs and are just big goofballs who love to snuggle.

@Breakfastmachine: Actually I think Corvallis is lovely and I do enjoy visiting, but after living most of my adult life in San Francisco, I'd go batsh!t insane in Corvallis in a matter of weeks, even though I might spare a significant number of brain cells by not having to fret about the possibility of earthquakes. The whole doomsday thing was amusing for awhile, but this lunatic is starting to get tiresome. Can't he just get on board with the Mayan 2012 apocalypse and save us an additional round of absurdity?

All I see when I look at these photos is a bunch of people who spend so much time in the lab that they neglect to get their hair cut. Judging from most of the people I work with (I'm also a scientist), I'll bet they all put about as much effort into their clothing too.
