Who would issue a six year old a ticket in the first place? That makes as much sense as the Washington Nationals allowing a little league to pay a fine levied against one of their own players for being late to a game (I guess the $500 is supposed to make up for the fans that won't come to watch a 4-14 team).
That's a great marketing strategy to show only one ending in the theater at a time so that moviegoers might make the trip back for a second and third time. Let's hope they don't do that with the remake with the crazy ticket and concession stand prices!
One of my favorite movies as a kid, and still great. Tim Curry is hilarious!
I am so accustomed to the free museums in DC that I always feel a little ripped off when getting charged in other cities.
A perhaps less known source of free entertainment in Washington, DC is at the Kennedy Center. The Kennedy Center can be a downright expensive venue, but EVERY DAY at 6pm there is a free performance on the Millennium Stage.
It is always depressing to hear about species that are gone forever. Although I did smile for a moment as I pictured a "Far Side" comic like depiction of the last Ibex being found under a fallen tree.
I had a friend in grad school that felt he was being unfairly taxed by a new fee that was being imposed (~$750/semester), so he dressed like a pirate and delivered a chest full of Sacagawea dollars (disclosure: the bank didn't have enough coins, so half of the booty was actually dollar bills).
The penny thing is really a jerk move, and honestly had the bursar office not found it hilarious, then I would have said the same of his stunt.
I'll try to find his post about online and add it to the queue.
Generally I think I have fairly poor hearing for someone who is only 28, but I heard it loud and clear. That sound would easily persuade me to move one.
Within the trilogies, I believe they got them right (I do disagree with the Star Wars rating though). However, the comparison between trilogies is a bit off. Terminator 2 compared to Lord of the Rings or the Star Wars trilogy?
I'm not sure how Jaws 2 or 3 mad it into consideration. :)
I hope they stay out water frequented by Great White Sharks! Actually, I feel like it could make for a great special on Shark Week, "Robo-Seal v. Jaws". (Robo-Penguin just doesn't flow off the tongue.

Alex - great response. A good serious thread is good every now and then, but sometimes we need a reminder that reading your blog should be fun!

I'm a little surprised by the how calm the water is so close to such powerful event.
