Boondock Saints and Death to Smoochy really don't fit. Karate Kidd III is pretty borderline as well in my opinion.
Melphisotpheles - I'll admit that Mel Gibson isn't my favorite actor. However, I would argue that Nicholas Cage has put out some worse movies: The Wicker Man, The Weather Man and Ghost Rider were all pretty bad.
The Happening may be the worst movie I have ever seen.

Just last week I was talking about going to the Library of Congress because they have access to a research article I wanted that is held in only 32 libraries worldwide. Amazing.
Between the Library of Congress and the British Library there are 180 million holdings, 54 million of those being books according to wikipedia. I wonder how many of those books have been opened.

kukeit - I'm really hoping that either you're joking or that I don't live next door to you.
Kelly - HILARIOUS!

I like the concept, but the concrete isn't going to hold up over time now that it has been intentionally damaged. I would have rather seen them haul the concrete out of there.

@ Gail Pink - There may be something very wrong with the way my head works because I didn't picture a drug garden when I read the title. No, my mind envisioned a plumber with a flower sprouted up from the back of his pants.

All this talk of how diamonds aren't really worth anything is making my head spin given the ring I recently gave to my fiancé. Although I wouldn't mind getting that chunk of change back, I appreciate the fact that she'll be wearing that piece of jewelery for the rest of our lives.

@ Frau - I was thinking the same thing! Totally appropriate given some of the recent discussions on Neatorama.
I got bored reading all the comments about people complaining about the f bomb.

There are a lot of really novel concrete products out there. The biggest problems are cost and construction method. I'm very skeptical of the material properties of the "repaired" concrete and think that repeated loading by the environment might be a huge problem. Sealed cracks, although better than unsealed cracks, are still imperfections in the material.
Advanced concrete materials mixes are highly sensitive and usually can not be made with local ingredients and may require highly specialized and expensive curing and pouring methods. I wouldn't count on seeing these materials in very many "everyday" applications anytime soon.

Hopefully Mr. Jones gets a coloring book in the mystery sale so that he can get familiar with the high level of artistry that is common in coloring books.
I don't hear of planes flying into office buildings very often, so I wouldn't think there is much of a need for the cover and whole page be devoted to it.

I can't claim to understand the value in beauty pageants, but I think there is very real value that may come from her winning this contest. She was unwanted as a baby due to her gender, but by winning a national contest (any contest) she will hopefully further the cause of other young women who might not have been wanted.
Yes, it was a just beauty contest, but it is prestigious nonetheless and hopefully changes some of the gender based perceptions in her society.

@Meg - You're right, it is sad regardless of the number, but it helps to have the numbers right. 8 deaths is the current number reported by the WHO.
Straight from the WHO website (http://www.who.int/csr/don/2009_04_29/en/index.html):
"As of 18:00 GMT, 29 April 2009, nine countries have officially reported 148 cases of swine influenza A/H1N1 infection. The United States Government has reported 91 laboratory confirmed human cases, with one death. Mexico has reported 26 confirmed human cases of infection including seven deaths.
The following countries have reported laboratory confirmed cases with no deaths - Austria (1), Canada (13), Germany (3), Israel (2), New Zealand (3), Spain (4) and the United Kingdom (5)."

I don't know if I would consider him homeless if he has been living in the same structure for years. This is definitely challenging my definition of being homeless.

I'm missing how Neatorama's new t-shirt is worthy of being listed on the front page - I doubt it would have made it out of the upcoming Q.

Smalls towns are quirky and I'm surprised the newcomer to town was able to gather as many votes as the incumbent local guy.
