Slow lorises actually excrete a toxin from their elbows (no, I'm not making that up) which they lick off. They use this to defend themselves via biting, and mothers cover their young with it while they search for food.
There's something powerfully compelling about something so strongly contagious and thuroughly deadly. I think that's why killer plague and zombie fiction and films as well as non-fiction accounts appeal to us on a basic level. It's happened before (black death, spanish flu) and it'll surely happen again.
l'elk, the list *does* mention Fido - and says it knocks off a single gag from Shaun of the Dead and stretches it to two hours. Haven't seen it myself, but obviously he has, and didn't care for it.
I think it's a rather clever solution that will get the stop signs a bit more attention while not adding ill will towards cops as an overbearing cruiser presence might.
