Something similar happens to people who take volcanic rocks from Hawaii. They suffer ill fortune and are convinced that Pele has cursed them, so they mail back the purloined rocks. If you are convinced that something is cursed, you will notice evidence that "proves" it is cursed. People are more likely to notice bad things that happen on the 13th of the month, especially if it falls on a Friday. A team that hasn't won a championship in a long time, or can't seem to win, must be cursed. And so on.

That beast knows all the right mooooves and how to go hell for leather. The steaks were high in this incident, but Bossie was no cow-ard. The thief definitely has a beef with her, while the police are glad she decided to horn in. There, I think I've milked it for all it's worth.

Those poor children are paying for something that is not their fault, namely, their parents' poverty. It is disgusting that school districts demand lunch money from parents like this. A tiny, tiny fraction of what we spend on "defense" could provide lunch for every school child in this country.

Instead of harassing the homeless, we need to help them. We need more affordable housing and affordable treatment for drug addiction and mental illness. Not all homeless people are junkies or winos - many are good people who just made some bad decisions or had a run of bad luck. Whatever happened to compassion?

The House of Mouse appears to have run out of ideas. I adamantly refuse to see ANY "live action" remake of their animated classics. What's the point in remaking a movie, unless you have a lot of new stuff to add, and maybe some items to correct?

Actually, all humanity needs "emergency books" stored in Knowledge Arks in case of a calamity so devastating that it seriously disrupts, if not ends, our current civilization. Don't laugh, as it could happen: a repeat of the Carrington Event, a supervolcano eruption, a particularly virulent pandemic, an asteroid or comet impact, just to name a few.

This is why I don't put too much faith in Google Maps. It has given me problems in the past, and on more than one occasion sent me on a Sally-Go-Round-the-Rosebush route. I always get a second opinion from Bing Maps or Mapquest, and use street view to double-check my route.
