it's a moose... not an elk - the head gives it away. I was just in Sweden. It's a female mouse hence no antlers. Elk look like rein deer, this appears to be a young moose though.
Not one mention of the first long-distance phone call... Brantford to Paris Ontario! His home in Brantford is still preserved as the Bell Homestead. We're the Telephone city and hometown of Wayne Gretzky... You can thank us for both of those any time now :)
I think the browse by dates/tags should expand if you click on the title. same goes for the categories. only people who want to search by them should be subjected to them!
As for the social media tags... most people using facebook or twitter know how to post links to pages or articles using things like bit.ly to shorten the links. You can kill the buttons for the love of design!
I don't advise changing to a dark background. I cant browse websites that are like that it hurts my eyes more! As for the hullabaloo about the white background using too much energy, everyone should get LED monitors, or buy macs, they come stock with LED, which, no matter the colour, uses less energy.
KEEP the upcoming queue, i love being able to vote about whats neat. and I'm so glad those posts advertising someones own business or "extraordinary photography" don't get past the faithful readership. they should buy ads instead! lol
I agree in moving the winners, and neatorama related updates to a side bar. If i am away for a few days and come back i miss out on updates unless i go through all the pages!
Mobile edition would be a waste (of time, effort and money!), everyone should buy cell phones that use real browsers or just use a computer!
Store items... Maybe post new ones on the side bar as well.
Centre or Left side alignment? Keep it bloggy, there are enough websites out there packed with links, mini ads, auto play videos etc. We come to neatorama for the simple pleasures, and a laugh.
YUP! thats the house! Dead on, fake cacti and all.
@seekshelter - Edward (the main guy) was turned into a vamp in 1918, at the age of 17, so as the vampire thing goes he will never physically age. he will always "look 17" (even tho the actor is really 22).
there is a funny scene in the movie, where it shows some art in his family home. One is all the graduation caps they have. Edward and his 3 "siblings" have graduated high school many many many times. He keeps going back, and they move around to keep under the radar.
The reviews are 2.5 /5 usually, but after reading the book and seeing the movie its closer to a 4.
What was very sad for me this morning was my local newspaper had NOTHING noting the day. not even an AP or CP story on today. I remember i was in homeroom in 9th grade when it happened. that day will forever be ingrained in my memory even though i didn't know anyone who was personally affected. Sure i live in Canada, but when America gets hurt the rest of the world does too.
i've lived here my entire life, the only place i've heard "aboot" is while driving in north dakota and Minnesota... and it wasn't coming from any canadians i knew.
I live about 10 min from the african lion safari, its far from a zoo. the heated units are HUGE and the fields where the animals are let loose all except extreme clod are also quite vast. it has a campground as well so you can camp nearby see some free flying birds and hear the lions roar in the morning. its closer to a preserve than a zoo on all accounts.
The truth is, America has the buying power of a few hundred million people. The entire country of canada has the buying power of the state of California....
Things in canada will never be cheaper than the US
As a retail worker in canada i can say for sure its cheaper in the states. but if you get caught your paying taxes on your way back into the country.
I was in dublin for a wedding a few months back, everyone thinks it was the biggest waste of 5 million euros the irish government could come up with. a giant metallic stick in the middle of the oldest part of the town. it doesn't fit in with the surrounding buildings whatsoever!

The milk is better up here because there are no hormones in the milk or fed to the cows.
