Buc-ee's knows its customers. Women want to stop there because of the restrooms - always clean, with an attendant, and huge - no waiting. Men want to stop there because of the huge number of gas pumps, the hunting supplies, and plethora of food. Kids want to stop there because of the huge selection of junk food and 'neat' things to look at, toys, and trinkets. Something for everyone. They do know how to pick your pocket, and it is easy to spend $100 a stop, not including gas. I have been in the world's largest Buc-ee's, and their billboards are everywhere on the major highways, with pithy messages such as '70 miles - you can hold it'.

Er, that should be Chipotle in the title.

My mother once ran low of halloween candy in the early 60's and just went out herself to collect some to give back out. Dad passed it out while she was away. To her credit, she never took any of mine to give out, although she wasn't above sneaking some for herself.

In Sealy, Texas, there was a low bridge that had caused hundreds of similar accidents. First, a warning sign was put up. When that proved to be ineffective, a set of dangling bells was strung across the road (Hwy. 36) at bridge level, with a sign reading 'If you hit bells, you'll hit bridge'. That worked better, but a few horrific accidents still occurred, several of them fatalities. In 2016, the road was closed, there old bridge demolished, and a much higher bridge erected in its place. That seems to have solved the problem.

These things happen. Here is a picture of Crystal Beach, just north of Galveston, Texas, after Hurricane Ike hit in 2008. This WAS a waterfront community, with many homes, only one of which survived, apparently unscathed. You can hardly tell where any others were.
