why do people care about the number of graduates? surely now we suffer more from the dearth of intelligent and educated people who so good jobs but ones that will never pay for massive student debt.

the myth that you need to go to university or college to be happy/ successful / usefull/ one of the guys, surely has to end

pure guesswork, but i'd say the real economic benefits to any coutnry are form a a well organised industrial core, combined with a remarkably small number of very well trained people, you don't need a vast army of people edicated beyond their ability... the peter principal forced upon the people who haven't even started workign yet

scotch is not a word a scotsman would ever use, nobody in scotland would ever describe themselves or their whisky as scotch.

I don't know if it's an english idiom (they certainly use it a lot)

but there is nothing like a scotsman ordering a whisky in london and being given jack daniels, and when pointing out that you didn't want a bourbon, they say .. oh why didn't you ask for scotch....

not to say who's wrong and who's right... but 'whisky' is scottish and 'whiskey' is irish or american

and it should NEVER be called scotch.

can I add, sprinklers: when one is set off then all sprinkler heads don't start gusshing water, just the one that's been set off

and they aren't set off by smoke either
