Surely questions that ask about really smart kids aren't asking about the relative intelligence of the average boy and girl, but about the relative representation of the sexes at the extreme right tail and, as the video remarks, there are more boys at both of the extremes. So girls aren't mistaken in believing that an especially smart kid is more likely to be male.
