I usually use a thesaurus for that. I may not be able to remember the right word, but I can usually remember a closely related word that will be in the thesaurus, with the word I'm looking for listed as a synonym.
Near where I grew up was a tiny town called Jollytown. There, there was a street called N*gger Run. When somebody pointed out to PennDOT that it was extremely racist, they changed it to Bloody Run.
I don't know. I ate school lunch every day. It was greasy, gross, and not at all friendly to my lactose intolerance. There were no vegetarian option, and the lunch workers sometimes confided that they wouldn't eat specific items on the menu. Yeah... School lunches aren't cool.
I've been reading the monster manuals since I got a hold of my father's when I was 10. Alas, I've never played, but I now have a group willing to teach me. But I'm a poor college student, and it would be irresponsible to buy my own stuff right now.
I hope research into how her condition works can help with anxiety, like Gauldar said. I have a huge problem with the disconnect between the rational mind and the emotional mind-- it would be great if research could help things like that.
As someone who is working through traumatic memories with a counselor, this really scares me. Part of what's really scary about the memories is the fact my own brain blocks out a lot. I'd rather be able to remember everything and deal with it, than forget. Just because you forget in your brain, doesn't mean you forget in your body. Trauma is a lot more complex than that.
