I asked the Ikea sales person what it was. They were undecided on the creature but knew it was a pajama holder for little kids. So you can take your squishy bug (a bed bug we all agreed) with you and it will hold your PJs. I've seen similar other animals that unzip to hold blankets or PJs so this made sense to me. Why anyone would want a critter that bites you in your sleep we couldn't decide.
I live in Utah and we have some really weird Irrigation laws. All of these problems stem from the fact that we live in the middle of a desert and people insist on having things like lawns and raising cattle. Because of this, we've developed a large variety of strange and stringent irrigation laws. My grandmother lives in an older part of town (Salt Lake City) that has open irrigation channels in it. She diverted some of the running water for her large garden and when the public works people noticed a drop in the volume somewhere downstream, she was fined. Apparently she didn't have water rights even though it was flowing through her back yard. Fun times in Utah...
I can vouch for the SLC rating. In fact, we should be on the top of the list. Mostly its from all the cars due to the absence of any sort of public transit system. The fact that the little public transit we do have runs entirely on diesel doesn't help. During the winter we have a cold inversion where, because SLC is in a mountain valley, the cold air settles into the bowl and warmer air passes overhead. Because of this, all the smog fills up into the valley and gets really unhealthy. It takes a natural wind storm to clear it out and break the inversion that can sometimes last 3 weeks or so. Ick.
Um this is a super common legal activity called subrogation. WalMart (an evil company none the less) was nice enough to pay her expenses while she sued the trucking company. She sued the trucking company for money for those same expenses, and won. She's getting double paid here, which in the American legal system, doesn't work. She should have to give the money that WalMart paid in the interim back because she's getting her expenses paid twice. It's not heartless or punitive - its simple legal activity. The same happens with your insurance company. If you get injured in an accident, your insurance company will pay your medical expenses. If you sue the person who is responsible for the accident, and you win medical expenses paid from them, then you have to give the money back to your insurance company that they paid. It's because of this that people can't double dip when there is an accident.
This reminds me of the Centralia, PA coal fire that has been burning underneath the city since the mid 60s. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centralia%2C_Pennsylvania You think they could come up with some sort of steam turbine to capture what is essentially geothermal heat and put it to use instead of letting it all burn off.
Yay Mindy! When I saw this that was the first thing I thought of too. I bought one of those shirts about 2.5 years ago for a friend who moved out of state. If you're in Utah, Cabin Fever at Trolley Square sells them :)
