The big problem was the difference in the characters. In the original both starbuck and Apollo were good friends. In this show they were sleeping together. In the original show Starbuck had a respect for authority this one she doesn't. In the original show Starbuck was a nice guy but fooled around. In this show starbuck is a jerk.
What they should have done was used the "LT Athena Cain" character of the Original show instead of gender swap starbuck. BUt hey they couldn't do that since they also Gender swapped daddy "Commander Cain" probably into a lesbian ;)
