My mother is blind and just got her iPhone. It's the first truly accessible phone she's had, and she loves it. If she finds an app she wants that isn't accessible, she emails the app store and they figure out how to make it accessible. I'm not a big Apple fan, but kudos for them for getting this right. Finally. Now if they'd only bring their prices down so the other half could afford it...

I love this one. It's real, and a riot! Naming horses is so fun.

I'm sure that different makes and models of typewriters would make for interesting variations. Perhaps a variety in an ensemble would be fun...

It's beautiful, and neat, and the first thing I thought when watching it open and close was...OW! MY FINGERS!

Good thing he's not in the US or he'd never get insured.

TY for the google link. Saved me time. ;)
I'd totally buy (and wear!) a t-shirt with this on it.

I wondered about that too. The tumblr site had a link to the story about the floating outhouses (http://www.bangkokpost.com/learning/learning-from-news/264401/flood-safety-inventions ). Apparently they collect the waste, then treat it and "discharge" it at a proper place, hopefully away from town. The whole article was pretty interesting; apparently the floating toilets have both a "modern" flush toilet (like in the US and Europe), and a "Thai" toilet that flushes by manually adding water to the bowl.
Interesting to see the differences in how disasters are handled between 3rd world and industrialized countries. In Thailand, it's a curiousity. In Haiti, it was a public health crisis.
