"yawn" I haven't read the book yet, but I find that these "good people" arguments seem to cheat, ignoring any historical positive effect that religion may have had on a society. The usage of Sweden in an argument about godlessness (they have only become atheistic in recent history) seems to belie the question "Where did their moral compass come from?"

Three cheers for the composer of that post! Maybe if people like him worked for the major newspapers the news wouldn't be so dreadfully boring.

I enjoyed the backdrop of white people taking pictures like they were at disneyland or the zoo. Probably posted it to their facebook page along with a link to an article from this american life.

Talk about a non-issue. Seriously. Thanks for adding to the intellectual discourse. I don't think we really want information. The fact that this is being made a big deal of proves it.

I consider myself a republican, however I am embarassed that the solution to this problem seems to be the old political tool of "throw some money at it". What the "bailout" fails to get at is this, the securities that the government would be purchasing are in essence worthless. I do not think it is the governments job to make sure that the united states doesn't go into a recession. I, like I believe most americans do, feel that this money is simply going to help out those who played games with our financial system. Where in the constitution does it guarantee that no company or person should fail.

V for vendetta was horrible. They turned it into a cheap left vs. right fantasy when in reality the story was much more subtle and thoughtful.

I kind of like his style. In the end its not up to the judge to make sure that the lawyers present their best arguments, its his job to judge what the final result should be. When you see the law as something simplistic you damn him for his methodology, when you see it as very complex it almost seems the most logical way to judge.

Oh and another thing, cut the guy some slack, at least he's trying to understand the situation of the lower class instead of sitting around wishing someone would do something.

I can't believe how judgemental many of you are. This project of his seems to demonstrate what I have known my whole life, America is the land of oppurtunity, the land of second, third, infinite chances. I LOVE AMERICA!

What did Al Gore do for PEACE again? It seems like a stretch to give him the award for what he has done, like him or not. Global warming, while an important issue does not DIRECTLY affect the peace of our planet. Also his work has, to be blunt, been a failure. Locate on a globe the country(s) whose CO2 emissions have decreased or held study because of Al Gore. He has changed nothing, because he offers no practical solutions.

That may have been the worst prank I have ever seen, They didn't even fill up the room. Any moron knows that NEWSPAPER makes much better filler. Also the phonebook is still actually a very useful tool, both the paper and online version. Just a gay addendum to my pointless commentary.
