Karl, I heart you for mentioning Jethro Tull, one of my favorites. Pretty much the only constant members have been Ian Anderson and Martin Barre.
I would mention the Alan Parsons Project, but their whole existence is based upon a revolving door of studio musicians. The death of Eric Woolfson hit me much harder than the death of Michael Jackson.
I went from having no kids (and being fairly happy that way) to being the stepmom of three teenaged boys. I wouldn't trade my life with my husband for anything, and I knew what I was getting into when I married him, but there is something to be said for being able to know kids when they're young, helpless, cute, and can't get into too much trouble, as opposed to skipping straight ahead to teenaged butthead phase. All three are finally grown and out of the house and my relief cannot be greater.
I try to have a sense of humor about it all, but year after year of "Irish=drunk" jokes is starting to come off about as funny as, say, celebrating Black History Month with crack.
