What? The Conch Republic didn't make it on here? I live in Key West, FL, and in 1982, our city seceded from the union, and declared war on the US Navy (Albeit by attacking them with stale Cuban bread), immediately surrendered, and demanded one billion dollars in foreign aid. It was mostly a stunt to get the government to stop choking our tourist industry, but it really rallied this community. People still fly the Conch Republic flag. I have a friend who has it tattooed on his arm.
