A breath of fresh air! AT the local elementary school, kids through 3rd grade are not allowed to leave at the end of the day unless there is an adult to pick them up.
I am Anglo, but I taught Spanish. Kids would say all kinds of things, both positive and negative, and when they found out I could understand them, they were embarrassed to death.
We had a cat who could easily open doors. You'd be sitting on the pot, the door would open, and he would jump up on your lap. Or sitting in the living room, and the door would swing open with Leo holding on the the knob. He taught us to lock doors if we wanted privacy.
One of my grandsons showed up reeking of Axe. I sent him into the bathroom to shower, and made him put on bathing trunks while I washed his clothes. I thought I would choke to death just touching the clothes.
