The Mystery of the In-N-Out Burger in Queens

Last Saturday, Lincoln Boehm made a discovery that shook the internet, or at least the portion representing New York City residents. He and his wife set out to get something from McDonalds at 6:30 AM, and encountered a perfectly wrapped, pristine double double cheeseburger on Sutphin Boulevard in Jamaica. It was from In-N-Out Burger. There are no In-N-Out Burger outlets in New York; in fact, they are located in only six states, all west of the Mississippi. How did it get there? Was it viral marketing, an art installation, a movie prop, or evidence of a tesseract or wormhole someone had passed through? Or maybe it just fell from heaven, as Boehm is an In-N-Out fan from Santa Monica. An In-N-Out executive expressed surprise about the find.

The mystery gripped the Big Apple for several days, and quite a few people contacted Boehm to claim responsibility, or at least suggest an explanation. One story checked out, though. When Helen Vivas contacted him, she had evidence that the burger was hers. Read the story of how the In-N-Out double double landed on a Queens street at Vice. -via Metafilter
