How I Trained My Cats

Every time we post a video from Jun's Kitchen, people are fascinated by the beautiful ginger cats Haku and Nagi, who watch Jun Yoshizuki making tasty treats. They sit calmly and never try to interfere or ask for a bite!

(YouTube link)

Jun explains how he treats the cats so that they behave so well. Haku and Nagi are very cooperative, but that doesn't apply to Poki, the world's most annoying cat. You get the idea that Poki is sequestered during cooking videos. Maybe he'll come around as he matures. Or maybe he'll remain an adorably contrary cat. -via Laughing Squid

The Cat's Greeting

(YouTube link)

Who says cats can't speak English? Jason Ybarbo comes home from work and says hello to his cat. Recently, the cat started saying hello back to him. It's no Don Piano, but it is certainly a human greeting. It will be time to panic when he comes home and the cat asks why he's so late. -via reddit

Cat Prefers Food To Go

An animal rescue group feeding stray cats in South Korea noticed one who was a little different. She eagerly took cat food that was packaged, but tended to leave loose food alone. When presented with a choice of wrapped or unwrapped food, she selected the wrapped food and took off. You can probably guess that she was sharing it.

There's a moment of real tension in this short story, but it has a happy ending. -via reddit

Basset Hound Is Unlikely Sheep Dog

A basset hound named Lady has proven to be quite a sheepdog, to the surprise of her owner. It's not that Lady puts her best efforts to the task -she doesn't even realize her talents. The sheep just like her, and will follow her anywhere.

(YouTube link)

Michael Jobson, 29, adopted three-year-old Lady three years ago before discovering by accident that the sheep at his Gamlingay, Cambs, farm have an inexplicable urge to follow her. Hilarious footage shows the oblivious dog wandering around in a field on multiple occasions, as dozens of sheep traipse after her, hanging on her every movement. Lady has proved to have such an innate but unusual rapport with the sheep that Michael and his partner Fiona Morton, 37, are planning to use her talents to assist their full-time sheepdog Tom.

Meet Quimera

Look at this beautiful cat! On her left side, she is a black cat with a blue eye, and on her right side, she's a ginger. If you look at the rest of Quimera, you see that her pied look wraps around the other side of her body.

Quimera could be a chimera, or more likely just a striking variation of a calico or tortoiseshell cat. You can see many more pictures of her at Instagram. -via reddit

This Hedgehog is Better at Camping Than You

Camping takes a special set of skills and some people are just plain better at preparing than others. You might be one of those people that are pretty good at roughing it, but even then I doubt you look nearly as good doing it as little Azuki the hedgehog

Azuki does all the camping neccessities, including sleeping in a tent, grilling up some dinner and even kayaking.

The most impressive part of the photo set is all the teeny, tiny, incredibly-accurate props made just for this perfect picture set.

Russian Photographer Captures Images Of A Young Ballerina Dancing With Her Dogs

Most dogs don't dance unless they're dancing for some food, and those dogs who actually enjoy dancing with their human can do little more than raise up on their hind legs and do the Bunny Hop without a little help from their humans.

But the dogs captured by Russian photographer Andrey Seliverstov really like to kick up their heels and dance with their darling nine-year-old owner Maria Palkina, and she's even teaching them how to do ballet.

Maria's dogs don't look like they'll be joining the Bolshi Ballet anytime soon, but they do look like they're genuinely enjoying the experience of dancing with their little ballerina buddy.

Owner Catches His Cat Mumbling To Himself While Hunting Birds On The Patio

Cats are kooky little critters with unique personalities and behaviors that may seem odd to anyone who hasn't owned a cat, and unlike dogs I've never had two cats who were exactly alike.

Each cat also has their own unique voice, and in addition to his meow, purr and hiss YouTuber Derek Zimmerman's cat apparently mumbles like a little lunatic while he watches the birds on the patio.

Guy Uses Cat Pics To Purr-Fectly Troll Scammer

Selling stuff online on sites like Craigslist has become a real pain thanks to all the flakes, lowballers and idiot scammers out there who waste our time and make us want to change our phone number.

But why change your number when you can have a little fun with the scammer by trolling them?

That's what David Heathcliff did when some scammy scumbag started texting him about the bedroom set he had for sale, claiming they would send a cashier's check to him for the furniture if he would kindly provide his name and address.

David never did get around to providing his real name and address, but he did provide the guy with the address to the FBI office in Salt Lake City along with plenty of funny pics that would have sent any sane scammer packing.

A Suspense Thriller for Dogs

A man is out walking with his German shepherd. The dog looks back at his human regularly. But then the man disappears! On no, what has happened to him?

(YouTube link)

Luckily, the story has a happy ending. This very short drama is a tribute to a dog's love, plus a lesson in how music enhances a plot, even in a home video of less than a minute. By the way, in the comments, someone asked if German shepherds were just "shepherds" in Germany. The German name is Deutscher schäferhund, named by a German breeder. A German commenter says they indeed just say schäferhund unless they need to distinguish it from another schäferhund, like the Belgischer schäferhund. -via Boing Boing

Service Compris

We've seen a few ridiculously funny videos from Faireset, in which he adds French dialogue to cat videos. This video features a hungry cat and a curious cockatiel. But what if the cat was a grumpy restaurant patron, and the cockatiel was an earnest but inept waiter? Watch the English subtitles, but keep one eye on the critters.

New Jersey Woman Discovers The Dog She Had Put To Sleep Was Still Alive

It's unconscionable for a vet to lie to us about our pet's health, let alone lying to us about putting the poor sick animal to sleep, but that's just what happened to Keri Levy and her family's dog Caesar.

Keri took the 15-year-old miniature pinscher in to the Briarwood Veterinary Hospital in Howell, New Jersey and was told Caesar would have to be euthanized due to a chronic medical condition called Cushing's disease.

She agreed and went home, receiving a call later from the hospital stating Caesar was now "at peace", but then a week later she received an anonymous tip that Caesar was still alive:

Keri left her pet at Briarwood Veterinary Hospital in Howell, New Jersey, and says she later got a call that Caesar was "at peace" and that she could come back to retrieve his collar, reports NJ.com.

So when Keri received an anonymous tip last week that Caesar was still alive and living with one of the animal hospital's former vet techs, a wave of heartbreaking emotions reemerged. "It broke my heart in a way like my heart has never been broken," Keri told News 12 New Jersey.

Keri says that when she went back to Briarwood Veterinary Hospital to figure out what happened, she was shocked to learn that both the vet tech and Dr. George Menez, the vet who recommended the euthanization, no longer work there.

Luckily, the new vet in charge, Dr. Maureen Kubisz, helped Keri track down what happened to Ceasar.

Sadly, when Keri was reunited with Caesar he was even sicker than when she last saw him, and he'd lost 10 pounds. Unfortunately, Keri had to go to a different veterinary hospital to say another teary goodbye to Ceasar before the beloved pup was finally put to rest.

This Dog Has the Ultimate Halloween Costume

Hungarian puli dogs are always compared to mops, which is why this black puli was able to pull off the best Halloween costume of all time with little more than a bucket and mop handle. Keki and her owner, a veterinarian at the All Creatures Animal Hospital, quickly went viral online after they were spotted at the MainStrasse Paw-Rade in Covington, Kentucky this weekend.

You can see more pictures of Keki over at the Huffington Post

Stranger Felines

Cat owners know that weird feeling of seeing their cat watch something that isn't there. Can they see ghosts that we can't see? Cole and Marmalade seem to.

(YouTube link)

Watch these two go ghost hunting around the house. There must be a lot of ghosts hanging around, so good luck sleeping tonight. -via Laughing Squid
