Woman Spring Cleaning Her Closet Finds One Big, Many Little Surprises
And now, from my "I'm so glad that happened to someone else" file, a Los Angeles woman was cleaning out her closet when she found a plastic bag full of surprises, one of them big, saw-toothy and hissing. I have to commend her for her bravery. I would have called a SWAT team or something of the sort.

Further proof that possums do NOT play dead. I saw one do it in 1977, but the many possums I've encountered since then have hissed, growled, spat, and soiled themselves when angry, but have never played dead.

We have that in common, MC. I don't like opossums and do not think they are cute. They scare me. I've been present for stand-offs between opossums and my dog, neither of which had any desire to back down. Also, my friend John was keeping dog food in a plastic container in his garage. It had a scoop in it, and he stuck his hand in to get the scoop. An opossum was inside and bit his hand. It was an awful wound.

That was impressive, both the lady not completely freaking out, and the possum so tame she walked through the house without attacking the crazy lady following too-close with the camera.
