Joey and His Water Bottle
I’ve always used a spray bottle of water to train cats not to climb on the kitchen counters or claw the curtains. It’s worked pretty well up until we got a cat who enjoyed being sprayed. But that’s nothing compared to Joey.
Joey is obsessed with water. He loves to drink from a bucket, a faucet, or even a shower. But his favorite water comes from his beloved spray bottle. According to Hillary D, he will wake up from a nap and come running when he hears the water bottle shake. -via Laughing Squid

You can train a cat not to climb on the kitchen counter by spraying it with water? Mine couldn't be trained at all!
