This Fish Looks Like a Muppet

The Smithsonian’s Smart News blog headlines its post as “The Red Batfish Looks Like a Muppet, Is Actually a Clam, And Should Be Your New Favorite Sea Creature.” But I think that may be backwards. If I understand it correctly, the Red Batfish, which often known as the Starry Handfish, is a chordate and thus not a clam.

Perhaps Smart News means clam-like in appearance, which it is. I’m not sure about the taxonomy of Muppets, but the Starry Handfish also appears to be a related species. It’s definitely cute.

When reading about science on Neatorama, keep in mind that Alex is the only actual scientist on staff.

I was being facetious if that wasn't clear enough. Plus using a much cruder tool like Google to find it.

I was tired and in a hurry, so I just grabbed the first one with .pdf access.

I did an author search in the database Academic Search Complete. This one came right up.

Why not the article with first author? Unless there are more than one A. Santoso researching yeast [PSI+] factor.
