Knowing the science behind how cookies bake will help you become a knowledgable, well-rounded person, but it probably won't help you to remember to take them out of the oven at the right time. Still, when your cookies fail, you'll be able to explain to your disappointed children exactly what went wrong. I'm sure that will excite them.
