The Soothing Sound Of 14 Pitched Down Crying Babies

A baby's cry has a powerful effect on adults- some get annoyed and plug their ears, others have a more caring and maternal/paternal response, but either response proves a baby's cry is designed to get our attention.

But only the child's parents could ever claim to find the sound "soothing", and if the sound of a baby's cry is pitched down and layered about fourteen times it becomes the sound of infant hell.

YouTuber Drunken Bear came up with the crazy idea to pitch down and layer the sound of babies crying, and then he made fun of us all for listening to it...and he was right!

A Teenage Girl Sins To Lure A Serial Killer In Night Of The Slasher

Many horror movie monsters and slashers are actually acting as violent vigilantes, and the storylines firmly establish the victims as bad people who bring their fate upon themselves.

These movies also typically include a character who is pure and innocent, one who is terrorized by the villain but survives the encounter and sometimes ends up taking out the killer in the end.

They draw the power to vanquish evil from their innocence, but sometimes the innocent must commit a sin to draw out their deadly prey... (NSFW)

Night of the Slasher from Shant Hamassian on Vimeo.

Night Of The Slasher was written and directed by Shant Hamassian, and if you enjoyed the concept you should check out the Image comic series Hack/Slash, which is about a girl who hunts down slashers.

Fun Facts Only Huge Disney Nerds Know About

How much do you know about Disney World? Unless you're a mega fan, chances are you don't know all the trivia bits on this fascinating Travel and Leisure article. Even if you know all about the secret tunnels, the basket ball court, the suite in Cinderella's castle and Club 33, you will probably be surprised by at least a few of the facts. For example, I had no idea that the presidential seal in the Hall of Presidents was such a big deal:

It took an act of (the real) Congress to install the Presidential Seal in the carpeting inside the rotunda of Disney’s Hall of Presidents” attraction. There are only three such presidential seals in the world: one in the Oval Office, one in Philadelphia next to the Liberty Bell, and one in the “Hall of Presidents.”

I admit I also didn't know that Disney World has only closed down three times in history, but you'll have to read the article to find out why it closed those three days.

Creative Weapons Of The Medieval Era

Advances in weaponry during the Middle Ages made it easier for humans to slash, stab, flay, crush and chop each other into bits on the battlefield, which is why fantasy and history nerds still think medieval warfare is king.

Of course, those knights riding around all super shiny help sell the cool, and armies laying siege to castles with catapults and stuff, now that must have been really cool to watch...as long as you weren't inside the castle.

Sam O'Nella Academy made a video dedicated to the cool and creative weapons and tactics conceived during the medieval era, it's crudely drawn yet totally worthy of huzzah. (NSFW due to language)

Anthony Kiedis Saved A Child's Life During The Filming Of Carpool Karaoke

James Corden has welcomed lots of interesting guests into his car for the Carpool Karaoke segment on The Late Late Show with James Corden, but he's never had a hero like Anthony Kiedis of the Red Hot Chili Peppers in his car.

Of course, James didn't know Anthony was a hero when he invited him to sing and get silly in the car, but a dire circumstance presented itself during filming and Anthony sprang into action:

We danced off, we tied and then we were going to celebrate with some Mexican food on the corner. And a woman came out of her house, holding a child saying ‘My baby, my baby, my baby can’t breathe!’ We all ran across the street, the woman thrust the baby into my arms, the baby was not breathing and I thought ‘I’m gonna try and do a little baby CPR real quick, see if I can get some air in this kid.’ Tried to open the mouth, [it was] like locked shut. So I started rubbing the belly, bubbles came out of the mouth, the eyes rolled back into place, the ambulance showed up and I handed the baby over, who was now breathing and fine, and we went back to Carpool Karaoke.

Looks like Anthony is familiar with Californication and Californichildcare, oh, and CaliforniCPR too!

The Best Fictional Holidays of All Time

We're in that one time of year that's just loaded with holidays -Halloween, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year's (just to name a few), but summers are a totally holiday drag. I don't know about you guys, but we wish holidays were more equally spread out throughout the year because we all need something to celebrate sometimes. That's why we support adding more holidays to the calendar and rather than taking the time and effort to make a new holidays, it's easier to just make fictional ones from television and movies into real holidays. This Zimbio article offers a good selection of fictional celebrations, so I say we start pulling a few dates from this list and make the rest of the year more festive already.

True Stories Of The Real People Behind The Memes

Memes introduce us to people and critters via perfectly captionable pics, and even though we don't actually get to meet these meme stars online we can make them say whatever we want.

But how much do we know about those ordinary people whose pictures were hijacked just so we can all write silly and stupid stuff on them?

Well, do you remember Overly Attached Girlfriend and the Guy Who Needs To Fart?

(Image Link)

Apparently those two meme stars went to high school together, and she very well may be the girl he was trying not to fart in front of in class!

And speaking of women you should never fart in front of- have you met the First World Problems Woman?

Her name is Silvia Bottini- she's an actress, model and super terrific public speaking teacher, so basically the perfect person to cast in the First World Problems meme!

A Brief History Of Goth

The Goth subculture has a suitably shadowy history, and like many of the post-punk scenes of the late 1970s there are disagreements about where it started and who started it.

Some say Goth started with Siouxsie Sioux of Siouxsie and the Banshees, others say she was just part of the scene that actually stole their look from Dr. Frank-N-Furter in Rocky Horror Picture Show.

This animated short by Pitchfork goes with Siouxsie as the first Goth, which I can't hate because Siouxsie is great!

I was totally on board with those kids presentation until they got to the "Kanye is Goth" part. *shakes fist* Kids these days!

Some Of The Strangest Creatures From Japanese Mythology

Japanese folklore is the root of their pop culture creativity, and most of the mythological creatures known collectively as Yokai are so perfectly bizarre they could only come from Japan.

According to the old stories one of these creatures could show up at any of our houses if we don't follow certain rules.

And if a Yokai creature does show up at your house you'd better do what it says or suffer the consequences, which may leave you looking for a new place to live.

Guillermo Del Toro Presents : The Captured Bird

Guillermo del Toro has presented us with amazing tales that run the gamut from dark horror to fairy tale fantasy, but gothic horror is one of del Toro's personal favorite genres.

Which is probably one of the reasons why he backed and produced Jovanka Vuckovic's spooky short film The Captured Bird, that and the story seems like something Guillermo would have written.

Released in 2012, The Captured Bird was Jovanka's first time writing and directing a film, and since this debut she has gone on to become "one of the most influential women in horror."

The Witch House of Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills is known for mega-mansions and celebrities, but amongst the glitz and glamour lies the strange and wonderful Witch House. The strange structure was orginally built in Hollywood back in 1920s for the silent film production company Willat Productions.

The house was built not only as a film set, but also as a studio dressing room and as an office, so it was a reasonable expense, but when the studio closed down and the house was slated to be torn down, producer Ward Lascelle stepped in to save it. That's when the home got moved to Beverly Hills.

You can read the rest of the home's history and see more photos over at LAist.

What If Bruce Wayne's Parents Died In Different Ways?

Everyone knows how Bruce Wayne's parents died, and how that fateful moment was wholly responsible for creating the Batman.

But how did the method of murder affect Batman's style of vigilante justice? And would his methods have changed if his parents had been killed by, say, a drunk driver?

Illustrator Daniel Irizarri explored this concept via comic strips on the Awkward Elevator blog, so we can see how close the Bat came to being the Butt.

It's funny to think how much that fateful night had to do with Batman being the angry and violent guy we know, just imagine how Batman would have turned out if his parents had been killed by a clown!

Remember those awesome Mario Warfare videos I posted about four years ago?

If not no worries, because they were just the first and second installments of the series, which I'm finally following up by posting MARIO WARFARE- THE COMPLETE SAGA!

It's feature length, it's action packed and full of badassery, it takes fan films to the extreme and it's extremely fun to watch. (It's also NSFW)

Beatdownboogie did such a great job of giving Mario's world the action movie treatment I can't wait to see what they do next!

Zapp Brannigan Quotes That Will Make You Miss Futurama

(Image Link)

A certain candidate who shall remain nameless keeps saying stuff no presidential candidate has ever said before, constantly reminding us all how much he has in common with Zapp Brannigan.

(Image Link)

You remember Zapp- he's that Captain Kirk wannabe from Futurama who wasn't afraid to speak his mind even though he made people cringe every time he opened his mouth.

Zapp was a fictional character created to be obnoxious and the other guy is "real", so remember that while you're drawing comparisons between the two.

(Image Link)

Whether you see the connection or find this comparison far fetched you need to know one thing- no matter what they claim they'll both handle an alien invasion this same way:
