Are You A Fan Or A Fanboy?

Even though the differences may not seem obvious the fans and fanboys/fangirls of the world are quite different from each other, starting with the fact that anyone can be a fan but only the truly obsessed become fanboys.

This obsession twists the poor little fanboys and fangirls into creatures fueled by pop culture, who live to argue about their favorite franchises while waiting for the next release.

Many diehard fans will refer to themselves as fanboys, but as this comic by Tom Preston shows you're only really allowed to add the "boy" or "girl" to fan when you've taken all the joy out of being a fan!

The Best Disney Rides That No Longer Exist

One of the great and simultaneously awful things about Disney theme parks is that Walt's vision that the parks will never be completed as long as there is imagination left in the world. It's great that we can always expect new and amazing attractions, but it's also frustrating when your favorite ride is no longre there.

You can read up on some of the best rides that no longer exist (or are about to disappear) over at Travel and Leisure. Personally, I rode the Cars-themed version of the flying saucers and wasn't very impressed. Have any of you rode some of these now-defunct rides?

Hilarious Tony Stark Moments Straight From The Comics

Tony Stark is a billionaire playboy, genius, philanthropist, inventor and a drunk, and while he's one of the least powerful Avengers in terms of inherent power levels he can outfunny them all.

Tony's ironclad sense of humor isn't understood or appreciated by his fellow team members, and frankly they could do without all that wisecracking in their ear while they're trying to take down the bad guys.

But Tony doesn't give a crap what they think, as long as the ladies still love him and he doesn't make the big green guy angry, err, angrier.

An Ancient Stone Warrior Is Brought To Life By A Young Boy In THE SENTINEL

Kids like to feel secure when they're traveling, and exploring strange new places all by yourself can be quite terrifying for kids and adults alike.

So imagine how scared a young runaway would feel if he found himself on an alien planet devoid of human life, and how much more terrifying it would be to discover that planet is Earth after The Scourge has virtually decimated humanity.

That in a nutshell is the premise behind Adam Floeck and Nate Swinehart's proof of concept short film THE SENTINEL, which they'd like to turn into a full-fledged animated series.

The Sentinel from Adam Floeck on Vimeo.

THE SENTINEL is little more than a teaser at this point, but Adam and Nate's company Boketto is hoping to drum up interest in the series with this press release, which further explains the show.

And since that teaser trailer probably left you wanting more here's an animated short Adam and Nate created together a few years back called Legacy.

Frog That Looks Like Princess Leia Is Caught In The Middle Of A Photoshop Battle

When a frog looks like a frog few people care or take notice, but when a frog looks like Princess Leia because it has two snails crawling on its head people celebrate its existence by making it the star of a Photoshop Battle.

(Image Link)

This PsBattle naturally began at the beginning, when the world was first introduced to the smart and scrappy young Leia, back before Luke found out they were related.

(Image Link)

But then the Battle waged on, and we were forced to feel all those froggy feels we never knew we felt.

(Image Link)

Many wondered where that strange source image came from, and why those snails were crawling on the little frog's head, so the frog's owner, photographer Tanto Yensen, explained:

“I just wanted to take some photographs of my frog and not so long after I went outside, the snails came out from the wood and then walked over to the frog. I thought it was very funny. I think it looks similar to Princess Leia’s hairstyle from Star Wars. And it looks like he’s using headphones too.”

Are those Beats by Dre?

Fun Facts About Better Off Dead

Better Off Dead was often overlooked in favor of the classic John Hughes teen comedies, but it for those with a dark sense of humor, it's just as good, if not better. For those that love the film, this trivia on Mental Floss is not to be missed as it's filled with all kinds of surprising facts about the movie. For example, the fact that it's semi-autobiographical, including writer and director Steve Holland's attempted and botched suicide:

I went into the garage, and I put an extension cord on a pipe, and I’m on a garbage can, and I’m thinking, ‘Should I do this? Maybe this isn’t a good idea.’ Anyway, it was a plastic garbage can, and my weight just like crashed through it and I fell, and the pipe broke! And it starts pouring water everywhere. And I’m basically in a garbage can, drowning. And my mom comes and starts yelling at me for breaking a pipe, which is what any mom would do.

Another fun fact: John Cusack absolutely hated the movie when it came out though now his feelings have softened a little and he claims he never actually hated it, he just "didn’t really have a feel for it.”

So check out the full list of trivia tidbits at Mental Floss.

Street Artists Open An Incredibly Detailed Mouse-Sized Cafe In Sweden

Rodents aren't going away despite the hard work put in by cats and exterminators, and even though most humans hate rats and mice there are those among us who genuinely love the critters we so callously refer to as "vermin".

In fact, a street art group calling themselves AnonyMouse like rodents so much they're trying to make Malmö, Sweden more rodent friendly- by opening up a mouse-sized Italian café.

The café is called Il Tupolino (Mickey Mouse) and it features outdoor seating, a cute little striped awning in the front and a temperamental chef inside the building...which the mice can't actually enter, since it's a diorama.

ENGLISH BELOW. ###### The grand opening of Il topolino was met with a slightly larger interest than anticipated. Its been good fun by also resulted in a bit of a wear on the inventory, so this afternoon we were forced to shut down temporarely (there might have been an incident with a chef and some loose wiring). Anyways, we're back again, just in time for breakfast! Cheese out! #anonymouse

But the adorable little café is situated next door to the darling nuttery Noix de Vie (Nuts of Life), where walnuts hang like roasted ducks in the window to tantalize any hungry mice that walk by.

These Out Of Context Dungeons & Dragon Quotes Are A Critical Hit

Dungeons & Dragons is one of those games that most parents just don't understand, and when they eavesdrop on their kids while they're playing parents are liable to hear all kinds of strange stuff coming out of their mouths.

This incomprehensibility may be one of the reasons why D&D was villainized back in the day, but it also makes for some hilarious "WTF?" moments when game chat is quoted out of context.

Imgur user perckq asked tabletop gamers in the Imgur community to submit quotes for his Out of context D&D shenanigans gallery, and their responses were so out there they'll probably only make sense to serious D&D heads...or maybe not.

Celebrate Christmas the Geek Way With These Sci-Fi Decorations

It's not easy to take home a Christmas tree when you're flying an X-Wing, but it sure looks festive.

It looks a little easier in an A-Wing, but there's still no room for a pilot.

Of course it seems a little easier using the USS Enterprise, but those decorations must be huge if you consider that this ship is supposed to hold over 1,000 people.

These delightful geek Christmas displays were created by Allison Kapner and they can be yours if you visit her Etsy store.

Awful Fantasy's Awfulest Tweets Of The Year

It's easy to tell when you're reading a good fantasy novel because you can't put it down, but telling bad fantasy apart from the good is even easier- unless you're among the uninitiated.

Those who haven't read much fantasy fiction won't necessarily know the difference between the really good stuff and the ludicrously bad, and therefore may wind up reading something utterly devoid of merit.

But if you start your initiation by reading the purposely awful snippets put out by Awful Fantasy Twitter account you'll become a fantasy fiction mastermind in no time!

The Evolution Of Batgirl

Before there was the Batgirl we know and love there was Batwoman, who was meant to be a one-off and yet was so popular she stuck around for a minute and even had her own Bat-Girl sidekick.

But Batwoman and the original Bat-Girl were left behind in the Silver Age, making room for Barbara Gordon to don the cape and cowl and become the more enduring version of Batgirl.

Barbara's Batgirl is a full-fledged member of the Bat Family and an integral part of the team, even after she was shot by The Joker and became the wheelchair bound hacker Oracle, and over the years she has proven her worth in more ways than one.

But this infographic created by Fun.com isn't about her abilities- it's all about her costume, which has gone through some colorful changes over the five decades since she made her first appearance in 1966.

This Harry Potter Christmas Party is Truly Magical

The team at Epbot is quite crafty and also incredibly nerdy, so it's hardly surprising that when they throw a themed Christmas party, they go all out. This year they opted to do a Harry Potter-themed party and the results are amazing.

Every detail, from the food to the trees and the doorway to the lighting is perfectly magical and an incredible blend of Christmas and Harry Potter fun. You can see pictures of the setup over at Epbot.
